JAMMU, Jan 25: Power Employees and Engineers Coordination Committee (PEECC) has announced UT wide protest on February 3 against non-holding of DPCs and privatization of power.
Addressing a press conference, Er Sachin Tickoo, Convenor PEECC and General Secretary JKEEGA decried the delay in the conducting of DPCs of the daily wagers, need based, technical and the clerical cadres by the officers at the helm of affairs.
Er Jaipal Sharma, President DEA, Sanjeev Bali, President PPEU, Anil Slathia, Lineman and Workers Union, HD Singh, TEF, Tarun Gupta, President PDEU, Balbir Singh Draftsman Association, Jasbir Singh ITI Employees, Kulbir Singh, EEU were among others present during the press conference.
“PEECC in accordance with the call of National Coordination Committee of Electricity Employees and Engineers (NOCCEE) for observing National Protest day on February 3, 2021 against the privatization policies of Central Government and non- regularization of daily wagers, contract employees will observe complete sit in protest in PDD complex Canal Road Jammu and members from other district headquarters in large numbers will also join in the protest in Jammu, the members informed”, Tickoo informed.
The members of PEECC highlighted that there are nearly 10000 promotion cadre vacancies within the technical and clerical cadres across Jammu and Kashmir which can be easily filled through the regular DPCs and there exist no bottlenecks withholding the process.
“Government of India instead of being sensitive to the issue of regularization of daily wagers has been pursuing the Union Territory administration to go for privatization of the power distribution on emergent basis. Any such move of privatization will be catastrophic not only for the employees and their families but will also create huge financial burden on the consumers of Jammu and Kashmir”, the members added.
PEECC has appealed to Principal Secretary PDD to kindly issue time bound instructions down the line to address the grievances of the cadres and complete the DPCs within a period of one week failing which the PEECC shall be forced to intensify the agitation.
