Peeka Express to be launched soon for immunization: Shabir

SRINAGAR, Sept 5: Minister of State for Health, Shabir Ahmad Khan today said that the Government would launch Peeka Express known as National Vaccine Van soon in the State with the aim to achieve cent percent immunization of children, especially in far-off and remote areas of the State.
The Minister was addressing officers during a review meeting of Family Welfare held here today.
He said that in this regard the Government has placed the orders for purchase of 27 Peeka Expresses (National Vaccine Van). He said that Rs 2.16 crore have been provided by Union Health and Family Welfare Ministry and maintained that each van would be furnished with necessary diagnostic apparatus and medicines.
Reviewing the physical and financial achievements registered by the Family Welfare Department, the Minister underscored the need for mass health awareness against infectious diseases especially in slum, downtrodden and remote areas. He stressed upon the concerned authorities to intensify the services of filed staff to cover register cent percent achievements in immunization programme of different contagious diseases.
Special Secretary Health and Medical Education, Sheikh Mukhtar Director, Family Welfare Department Dr. Baldev Singh, Director Health Services Kashmir, Dr. Saleem-ur-Rehman, Mission Director, NRHM, Dr. Yashpaul Sharma, Joint Director Planning, Ganai, Chief Financial Advisor, Zahoor Ahmad and Senior Law Officer, Altaf Hussain attended the meeting.
Director Family Welfare gave detailed resume of the activities of the department being carried out for health awareness and immunization in the State.
