Peer applies for bail

SRINAGAR, Nov 27:  The former chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Board of Professional Entrance Exams (JKBOPEE), Mushtaq Ahmad Peer, who is the main accused in the Common Entrance Test- 2012 scam moved a bail application in the anti-corruption court today but the court asked the Crime Branch of Jammu and Kashmir Police to file objections.
Peer was arrested last week after Crime Branch questioned him for four days and found him the kingpin of the scam. He moved a bail application before the court today but the court has asked the Crime Branch to file objections on the next date of hearing before the fate of Peer’s bail application is decided.
Earlier, another accused in the scam, Sajjad Ahmad, had moved a bail application before the court and Crime Branch was asked to file objections.
The Crime Branch in its objections to Sajjad’s bail application before the court said that scandal in which Sajjad is involved is a mega one and the general public and students have lost faith on BOPEE and prayed before the court that the bail may be rejected.
The Crime branch objections to the bail plea of Sajjad said that he along with other accused including Peer and Farooq Itoo are involved in the leaking of the question papers of CET-2012 this marring the carrier of merit holding candidates.
Crime Branch in its objections while pleading for rejection of bail told the court that Sajjad has received Physics, Chemistry and Biology question papers of CET-2012 from one Farooq Ahmad Itoo at Nishat and distributed it to candidates by charging from them lakhs of rupees through one Haroon Rashid.
Crime Branch while pleading for rejection of bail before the court said that more disclosures are awaited from Sajjad that could lead to recovery of money and identification of more beneficiaries of the scam.
