Peerzada reviews progress on reconstruction of Jamia Masjid

JAMMU, Feb 20: Minister for Public Enterprises, Haj and Auqaf Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed today said that area adjoining Jamia Masjid Sharief, Talab Khatikhan would be developed as per Jammu Master Plan.
The Minister was chairing a joint meeting of officers of Revenue, Jammu Municipal Corporation, Jammu Development Authority, Auqaf Islamia, Jammu and Police Department convened to get the first hand appraisal of progress on the reconstruction of Jamia Masjid, Talab Khatikhan.
The Minister said that the residential buildings and commercial establishments in adjoining areas would be developed according to Jammu Master Plan as the same would add to the attraction of the area and help in promotion of business activities.
Peerzada asked the Revenue, JMC and Auqaf authorities to work in coordination to remove the bottlenecks if any regarding land acquisition for road widening leading to the mosque and expansion of its area.
The Minister was briefed that the process for acquisition of land required for widening of road has been initiated and would be completed within ten days, adding that the steps have already been taken by the Auqaf Islamia and JMC to properly rehabilitate the persons who would be affected in the process.
Peerzada directed the concerned to expedite the pace of construction work and ensure timely completion.
The meeting also decided that the truck and tippers used for carrying away the debris and transporting construction material would be allowed after 9.p.m.
The upcoming, mosque, being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs.5 crore by the Auqaf Islamia, Jammu of its own resources, would have 50,000 square feet inbuilt area comprising ground and first floor with a capacity of 12,000 to 15,000 Namazies. The mosque, with a 180 feet high Minaret, would be unique architecture in the country with centrally air conditioned facility, escalator and inbuilt audio-system.
Among others, the meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner, Jammu, Sanjeev Verma, DIG, J P Singh, Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation, Kuldeep Khajuria, Secretary, Jammu Development Authority Mohammad Yousif, Administrator, Auqaf Islamia, Jammu Raj Mohammad Malik and Superintendent of Police Rajeshwar.
