PEEU discusses problems

SAMBA, Oct 5: A meeting of Provincial Electric Employees Union, (PEEU) Samba was held under the chairmanship of its president, Simar Singh to discuss the problems of employees, today.
On the occasion, the meeting discussed the fatal accident of lineman Ranjeet Kumar son of Dhanu Ram resident of Sumb on 29-09-2015 in SIDCO Complex, Phase-1, Samba which caused serious burn injuries to the lineman.
The meeting also recalled that many such incidents have already happened in the recent past which caused loss of lives but no concrete steps have so far been taken by the concerned authorities to avoid such mis-happenings in future.
The members expressed their deep concern and anguish over the callous attitude of the authorities and demanded that suitable technical personnel be deployed on duty as lineman and mechanic with proper shutdown mechanism.
They further demanded that an enquiry of all these incidents be got conducted at the earliest from an expert and competent team and findings with recommendation of the same be made available to the union. Financial assistance be given to the family of Ranjeet Kumar, victim of recent accident for his treatment and support of livelihood being as daily rated worker. Provision of full risk cover of persons attending risk duty be kept for all daily rated workers in the Department, they demanded.
