JAMMU, June 28: National Conference Provincial President Devender Singh Rana today decried the attempts of polarizing society on the basis of religion, saying that those preaching hatred in the name of religion are enemies of the humanity.
“Those failing to appreciate Godliness are enemies of the society and the nation”, Rana said while flagging of Sadhbhavna Yatra of Baba Pehad Devta ji from Parade Ground, Jammu this morning, in presence of Ashok Khajuria MLC, Rajesh Gupta, MLA Jammu East and Ranvijay Singh.
The Sadhbhavna Yatra passed from Pacca Danga, Jain Bazar, Dhounthli Bazar, Radio Station, Circular Road, Aithem and culminated at Pehad Devta.
According to legend, Baba Pehad Devtaji is believed to have brought waters of Tawi from Kali Kundi glacier of Bhaderwah to Jammu with the blessings of Bawe Wali Mata. Many Hindus of Jammu at present perform Mundan ceremony of their children at Devsthan of Baba Pehad Devta.
The Provincial President complimented the organizers for organizing this yatra, essentially for promoting the spirit of inclusiveness and fostering the bonds of amity and brotherhood. He referred to selfless service and contribution of spiritually blessed saints in forging bonds of brotherhood between various communities and said that spirit has to be emulated and bequeathed to posterity for making the state a better place to live in.
“Today, when dark clouds of hatred and intolerance are hovering over the horizon, an onerous responsibility is cast upon us all to preserve and promote our glorious traditions that have withstood test of times”, Rana said and urged the people to keep this spirit alive and work for cementing the bonds of love and amity.
He lauded the people of Duggarland for keeping the flag of inclusiveness aloft despite provocation and most testing times of the history.
The Provincial President said the Sadhbhavna Yatra will send a right message across the State for people to emulate the spirit of camradiere and brotherhood, need for which is now far more than ever before. He cautioned the people to guard against the elements bent upon to divide the society on the basis of religion and region.
