The Government of the UT of Jammu and Kashmir has set a one-week deadline for pending reports by inter-departmental committees to expedite issue resolution. Strict instructions have been issued to ensure timely handling of Regular Departmental Action (RDA) cases by all departments, with potential consequences for officials causing deviations or delays. The Government is deeply committed to swiftly resolving all pending matters, but it appears that certain departments and officials are not as dedicated to this cause. While committees were established to facilitate the timely resolution of these issues, some of these committees have not been meeting regularly, let alone producing final reports.
Recognising the seriousness of this situation, the administration has taken decisive action by setting a one-week deadline for the submission of long-overdue reports. To streamline the process and enforce adherence to prescribed timelines, an online portal for RDA cases has been developed, and a Nodal Officer will be responsible for uploading RDA cases, monitoring progress, liaising with the General Administration Department, and addressing RDA-related matters. This proactive step aims to assign responsibility and ensure higher authorities can intervene promptly, as the online portal will raise alerts in case of delays. This administrative measure provides a well-structured solution to address the issue of delayed actions. Incorporating Member Secretaries into the committees and holding them responsible for organising regular committee meetings is a promising step. This move will enable timely actions to be taken against corrupt officials and provide much-needed relief to innocent officials who have been suffering for years due to the non-submission of reports.
