Pending wages of PHE employees demanded

UDHAMPUR, Apr 20: Water Works (PHE) Employees Association, Udhampur, in a meeting held at Krimchi under the leadership of Som Nath, district INTUC president and provincial vice president of the Association, demanded immediate payment of wages of workers and employees which have not been provided to them for over a year.
While addressing Som Nath made it clear to the gathering that CP workers of PHE Department need not worry as the concerned Minister has given assurance that no worker would be disengaged vide the Circular No. 9 GAD dated 26-03-2013. He added that the Minister has also assured for fulfillment of other genuine demands of the employees.
Som Nath appealed the Government to fulfill all the genuine long pending demands of the employees so that they may not be compelled to resort to the path of agitation.
The demands highlighted on the occasion included: Release of Pending wages; Change of designation as per nature of job being performed by them; Conducting DPC which has not met for the last 15 years at different levels; Provision of new staff for the new water supply schemes as crores of rupees are spent on schemes but not even a single worker is employed for the same; Benefit of SRO 64 to all Daily wagers, ITI workers, community participation workers etc by way of their regularization; Convertion of CP workers as also need based and estimate workers as Daily Wagers.
Others who also spoke on the occasion included Vijay Kumar, Surak Prakash, Amar Dev Singh, Janait Ali, Kuldeep Kumar, Luxman Singh, Kartar Chand, Som Raj etc.
