JAMMU, Jan 28: The State executive committee of J&K Pensioners and Senior Citizens Welfare Association held a meeting under the chairmanship of State president Sampat Parkash for discussing several social issues and demands of the pensioners.
The meet demanded release of due installments of DA in favour of pensioners, increase in pension after the age of 80 and enhancement in the Medical Allowance besides application of Medicare scheme on Central pattern.
The Association also demanded that the Senior Citizen Act, passed by the State Assembly on August 27, 2014 should be reviewed for welfare of the senior citizens
The Association also discussed some social issues such as drug menace, Save Girl Child campaign and Swachh Bharat Abhiyan by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
During the meeting, it was decided to organize one-day conference at Jammu City soon to carry forward the mission of the Association.
