Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, Jan 14: All J&K Pensioners Association had come into being with an objective to fight for rights of 3,50000 pensioners in the State cadres and voice their grievances to seek redressal thereof through civilized dignified and democratic means.
In a handout issued by the Association here today it said that almost the entire pensioners community constitute a general chunk of citizens of the State who in different capacities have served the State administration in multiple capacities and have contributed a lot in running the administrative machinery of the State. The Association is representing all shades of retirees irrespective of their status they held prior to their retirement from services. For quiet some time it has been experienced that all class of pensioners are being treated not in a desired or required manner and every now and then this class of society has to go from door to door of the administration either for release of pension arrears or for fixation of their pension removal of anomalies, release of D.A. installments etc, the handout said.
It said the most undesirable treatment in fact provides some sort of discouragement to dynamic senior citizens from among the pensioners.
A meeting was presided over by Madan Lal Abrol, in which large number of pensioners were present and they raised their issues regarding revised pay scale w.e.f 1.1.2016. They said thousands of files lying with the A.G.Office but all in vain. The Medical Allowance was not provided to the pensioners since long, only Rs. 300 P.M is being given to the pensioners from last 20 years.
Abrol again appealed to the Governor, to solve the grievances of the pensioners at once. The meeting was addressed by prominent members of the Association including Yash Paul Sanson, Raj Kumar Basnathia, Bhushan Pargal, Mohd Shafi, Ayub Khan, Prem Saroop and others.
Abrol, appealed to Financial Advisor to release the payments released by the Governor. The treasury officers are giving the arrears w.e.f 1-1-2016 but J&K Bank is not issuing the arrears till date. This is discrimination by the two offices i.e Bank and Treasury. He urged the Chairman of J&K Bank to release the arrears to the old pensioners w.e.f 1-1-2016 till date. Abrol said the pensioners when in service were backbone of State administration. He appealed Governor to give clear instructions to bank particularly Shalamar Branch of J&K Bank in this regard.
