JAMMU, Aug 12: All J&K State Pensioners Association criticized the apathetic attitude of State Government regarding the implementation of 6th Pay Commission report in favour of pensioners and employees of the State Government, in a meeting organised under the leadership of convener of the Association, Mukand Lal Sharma, here at Geeta Bhawan.
Addressing the meeting, Sharma said the employees and pensioners of State Government have been struggling for last two years to get redressed their demands particularly the implementation of 6th Pay Commission with no reasonable response from the Government, which has enhanced the salary of the legislators three times amounting to more than Rs 90,000 per month with additional medical allowance of Rs 1000 per month.
He warned the Government to be rational in respect of the demands of the pensioners and employees in near future otherwise the employees and pensioner community will launch an aggressive agitation throughout the State.
Reiterating the demands of the pensioners, which included release of arrears of the revised pension with effect from January 1, 2006 to June 30, 2009 in one installment, additional quantum of pension after attaining the age of 80, 85, 90, 100 years and above 20%, 30%, 40%, 50% and 100%, enhancement of medical allowance from existing Rs 300 to Rs 1000 per month, release of pending 6% DA arrears and withdrawal of 13.5% VAT imposed on the sale of Canteen items to be purchased by Ex-servicemen and other defence personnel, Sharma warned the Government to fulfill them or ready to face the wrath of the pensioners and employees.
