Pensioners demand release of 3 pc DA, hike in MA

JAMMU, Nov 27: A meeting of Pensioners and Senior Citizens Welfare Society J&K was held under the chairmanship of its president Mir Gh Rasool Botwani through virtual mode with its members. In the meeting members expressed satisfaction over stoppage of commutation amount from pensioners after 10 years of recovery besides, they appealed to UT Government to consider all pending issues of pensioners and employees including enhancement of Medical Allowance from 300/- to 1000/- per month with effect from 01.04.2020 at par with Central Government employees and pensioners .
It demanded grant of 3% DA to employees and pensioners from 01.07.2024 implementation of Old Pension Scheme( OPS) instead of (NPS), enhancement of pension 5%,10%, 15% from the age of 65, 70 and 75 years already applicable in various States besides Central Government have already agreed for its implementation but formal orders are awaited.
The pensioners appealed to all Deputy Commissioners for issuance of senior citizens cards to all pensioners for which Divisional Commissioner Kashmir have passed necessary directions.
They also demanded release of 18 months arears of DA which have been kept with held pertaining to Covid period besides demanded regularization of daily wagers and enhancement of their daily rates up to 600/- per day.
The meeting was attended by Sheikh Gh Mohiuddin Shilvati general secretary, D N Sadhu State secretary, Comrade Baldev Raj Sharma, P N Raina, Mohd Sultan Mir, Mohd Subhan Dar, Gh Ahmad Rather and others.
