SRINAGAR, Oct 17: A meeting of Pensioners and Senior Citizens Welfare Society UT of J&K was held under the chairmanship of its president Mir Ghulam Rasool Botvani which expressed the hope that the new Government may redress all pending issues of employees/pensioner’s / daily wagers/ contractual employees.
In the meeting threadbare discussions were held on the various issues which included enhancement of Medical Allowance up to Rs 1000/- from April 1 in 2020 to employees and pensioners the benefit of which has already been given by Ladakh Government to its employees and pensioners.
It also demanded grant of 3% DA from 01.07.2024 to employees and pensioners as already granted to Central Government employees and Pensioners, restoration of Old Pension Scheme (OPS) to all employees appointed from 01.01.2010, enhancement of Pension @ 5%,10%, and 15% from the age of 65,70 and 75 years already granted in various States.
The meeting further demanded stoppage of commuted value of pension after 10 years to the pensioners as has been done by various States in view of the fact that Government is recovering it from the pensioners in 15 years which is injustice with them, grant of other due benefits applicable to the employees after payment of 50% DA by the Government, regularization of all contractual, daily wagers who have completed their seven years in their respective departments, release of 18 months DA arrears in favour of employees and pensioners pending with the Government pertaining to Covid period, grant of minimum wages rates in favour of skilled, semi skilled and unskilled workers at par with Central Government workers already notified.
The meeting was attended by Ghulam Mohi ud Din Shilvati, general secretary, D N Sadhu, State secretary , Comrade Baldev Raj Sharma, P N Raina, Mohd Sultan Mir, Mohd Subhan Dar, Gh Ahmad Rather and other members .
