Pensioners discuss grievances, demands

JAMMU, Feb 26: All J&K Pensioners’ Association today held a meeting under the chairmanship of Madan Lal Abrol and discussed various problems and demands of the State pensioners.
Addressing the meeting, Abrol said that all class of pensioners are not being treated in a desired or required manner and every now and then this class of society has to go from door to door of the administration either for release of pension arrears or for fixation of their pension, removal of anomalies, release of DA installments etc.
He also raised the issue regarding revised pay scale with effect from 1-1-2016. “Thousands of files of the pensioners are biting dust in AG office and nobody is bothered to clear them,” he added. Abrol further said that a paltry sum of Rs 300 per month is being paid for last 20 years to the pensioners as medical allowance, which should be enhanced to at least Rs 3000 per month.
Other speakers in the meeting stressed upon the Governor administration to introduce insurance scheme for the pensioners. They also asserted that lump sum amount in one installment be given to the pensioners with effect from 1-1-2016 as committed by the previous Government. They stressed upon Governor S P Malik to give first preference to solve the issue of the pensioners.
