JAMMU, June 17: The Pensioners and Senior Citizens Welfare Society has demanded release of DA installment to pensioners and Government employees from the date due to them.
In a statement issued here, today the president of Society, Mir Ghulam Rasool Botvani and its general secretary, D N Sadhu had made an appeal to both J&K UT as well as Central Government in this regard. They said the pensioners and senior citizens are worst victims of present COVID wave and they are not in apposition to purchase the consumer goods and other essentials due to sky rocketing prices. Besides, the old age persons are regularly in need of medicines and medical check up for which they need lot of money every month. This has put an additional burden on them and with meager pension they are unable to bear the same, they added.
They urged the Government to release the dearness allowance and also pay the Medical Allowance to UT Government employees and pensioners as is given to Central Government employees as the UT employees and pensioners are hard pressed due to present price index.
