Pensioners highlight demands

UDHAMPUR, Feb 22: A meeting of District Pensioners’ Welfare Association was held here today under the chairmanship of its president, BD Gupta, wherein the pensioners’ highlighted their demands.
The meeting unanimously demanded that the 6% DA arrears with effect from January 2009 to June 2009, which is still pending, be paid to them at the earliest.
The participants also demanded payment of 3rd installment of 6th Pay Commission, enhancement of Medical Allowance to Rs 1000 per month, merging of 50% DA with pension and removal of disparity of pension between pre and post retirees of Jan 2006.
It was also resolved that whenever the Central Government announces the increase in DA to its employees or pensioners, the State Government should also announce and release the same without any delay.
The pensioners also demanded the State Government to pay additional quantum of pension after attaining the age of 80-85, 90-95 and 100 on the pattern of the Central Government.
