UDHAMPUR, June 5: A meeting of district unit of All J&K State Pensioners Association (JKSPA) was held here today under the chairmanship of convener, JKSPA, Mukund Lal Sharma, to highlight their demands.
Addressing the meeting, Sharma said that Government has granted the demands of the Government employees by increasing the age limit from 58 to 60 years but deprived the pensioners of their genuine demands like enhancement of medical allowance from Rs 300 to Rs 1000 besides release of 6% DA arrears from January 2009 to June 2009 and 10% DA installment from January 2014 onwards.
The other demands highlighted in the meeting included payment of remaining installments of 6th Pay Commission and additional quantum of pension in favour of State pensioners like pensioners of Central Government.
The Association appealed the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to consider their demands, as pensioners are also part and parcel of the society. Meanwhile, the Association decided to organize a mass rally at Mini Stadium, Udhampur on July 7, 2014 at 10 am to press the Government to fulfill their demands.
