This verification process, initiated in July 2024 alongside the digitization of pension data, originally had a deadline of September 30, which was later extended to October 30.
To support elderly and infirm pensioners, treasury staff conducted home visits, completing around 7,000 verifications at pensioners’ residences.
For those residing outside Jammu & Kashmir, a video-based verification option was also introduced to facilitate the process.
Currently, 2.28 lakh out of the total 2.43 lakh pensioners have completed the verification.
As per a circular issued by the Director General Accounts and Treasuries, Finance Department, despite multiple extensions, approximately 15,000 pensioners are yet to respond to the verification requirement.
In response, the circular said, the authorities have decided to provide a final chance for verification, extending the deadline to November 30.
As such, the treasury officers have been asked to issue notices to the remaining pensioners, warning that failure to complete the verification by the deadline will result in suspension of their pension disbursements, it said.
