This has reference to the circular issued by the Finance Department of the J&K Government regarding Physical verification of Government Pensioners. The step so taken is not only harsh but also uncalled for.
The lengthy process of shuttling of old persons and women pensioners for Physical Verification under such a scorching weather could have been avoided or deferred or the personal presence of the pensioners at the respective J&K Bank Branches should have been considered sufficient proof of “Live Pensioner”, on the analogy of Central Government Pensioners drawing their pension at the SBI counters.
The authorities should have visualized the inconvenience likely to occur by issuing such unnecessary and untimely instructions. The Retired Officers Forum therefore, appeals the Finance Department to reconsider and simplify the Physical Verification Procedure.
