JAMMU, Mar 9: Municipal and Urban Local Bodies Pensioners Association Jammu Province has demanded enhancement of Medical allowance and pending arrears of DA.
In a meeting of the Association held here today, under the chairmanship of BS Jamwal, the members expressed dismay over the Lt Governor J&K UT administration for not considering the demand of enhancement of Medical allowance of Rs 700 per month despite making request since 2017. Jamwal said the J&K Govt is disbursing only Rs 300 as Medical allowance per month for the last two decades to the employees and pensioners which is not sufficient to meet the requirements due to inflation. The Central Government in various states and in UTs is paying Rs 1000 per month as Medical Allowance but in J&K the employees and pensioners are getting just Rs 300 per month for the last about 20 years.
They pointed out that the Association had flashed urgent letters to PM Narendra Modi and also to the Union MoS Dr Jitendra Singh but nothing happened.
They pointed out that even the Government failed to pay the pending DA installments since the period of Covid. Even the DA/DR is pending since from Ist 20202 to ending June 2021 and 4 % DA/DR is pending from Jan 2022. They appealed the Lt Governor to address pending issues of the pensioners
Senior members B S Verma, J L Sharma, BS Verma, K G Khajuria and R K Gupta also spoke in the occasion
