Pensioners, PRWS highlight demands

SRINAGAR, Sept 29: Pensioners and Senior Citizens/ People’s Revolutionary Welfare Society (PRWS) while highlighting the problems being faced by Government employees, pensioners and senior citizens has urged the Government to redress their long pending issues.
In a joint meeting of the two organisations here, today chaired by Mir Ghulam Rasool Botvani a veteran Trade Union leader and president Pensioners and chairman PRWS said that Government is not showing any seriousness in solving the problems of these hapless people. He specially highlighted the issue of daily wagers working in different departments in general and PDD in particular who despite serving the department for over two decades are not being considered for regularisation despite the fact that previous Governments had given assurance to them in this regard.
He said with the rigid stand of the Government towards daily wagers, causal labourers, Anganwari workers, contractual and consolidated workers, they are left with no alternative but to take to streets.
He said employees and pensioners are denied their GP Fund, arrears of 18 months DA, RTC employees have been deprived of 6th Pay Commission, thousands of posts are vacant in PDD and despite shortage of manpower the daily wagers are not being adjusted on these posts.
The welfare Society Secretary D N Sadhu also appealed to the Government to settle the genuine demands of low paid employees and pensioners without any delay so that these categories may feel sigh of relief .
Sheikh Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din, Mohammed Sultan, Ghulam Ahmed Rather, Ghulam Mohi-ud_Din Buhroo, Noor Mohammed Sheikh, Bashir Ahmed, Ali Mohammed Mandoo, Mukhtar Ahmed, A R Hajam and other senior leaders addressed the meeting.
