JAMMU, May 25: Pensioners Association has demanded Rs 700 hike in the Medical Allowance of the Govt employees and pensioners in the J&K UT.
In a meeting of the Association held under the chairmanship of B S Jamwal (MULBPA) here today, the members expressed serious concern for not extending the benefit of Rs 700 per month as Medical Allowance enhancement.
They pointed out that in other UTs the employees and pensioners are getting Rs 1000 per month as Medical Allowance while in J&K, they are being provided just Rs 300 per month which is an injustice to them. They strongly demanded Rs 700 hike in the Medical Allowance with effect from the day the J&K was declared as UT.
Another senior member of the Pensioners Association, Madan Lal Abrol, urged upon the Lt Governor Manoj Sinha to announce enhancement in the Medical Allowance as Rs 300 is very small amount for Medical expenses of the retirees.
