Pensioners, senior citizens demand release of 3 pc DA

JAMMU, Apr 17: Pensioners and Senior Citizens Welfare Society today appealed the Lt Governor, Manoj Sinha to release the DA installment to the pensioners and employees due to them since January this year.
The demand was made in a meeting of the Society at Srinagar today which was held under the chairmanship of its patron, Mir Ghulam Rasool Butwani. It said the skyrocketing prices has hit the pensioners and senior citizens including the working class hard. The meeting said the Central Government as well as UT of Ladakh has released the three percent DA installment in favour of their employees and pensioners while the J&K Government is yet to take a decision in this regard. It said in view of the problems faced by the employees and pensioners in the UT of J&K due to price hike the Government should release the due installment of DA in their favour with arrears since January this year.
The meeting among others was attended by Sheikh Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din Shilwati, general secretary, D N Sadhu, secretary of the society respectively . The meeting also appealed for enhancement of Medical Allowance at par with Central Government employees and pensioners. It alleged that the benefit of Golden cards are not given to the people in all recognised hospitals and a list of all such hospitals needs to be published so that people may not face inconvenience to get benefit under Golden cards.
