Pensioners, senior citizens for release of 4 pc DA installment

JAMMU, Nov 3: The Pensioners and Senior Citizens Forum in its meeting through video conferencing today while highlighting the demands of the pensioners and senior citizens urged the UT Government of J&K to release the four percent DA installment in favour of pensioners and Government employees without further delay with retrospective effect.
Addressing the meeting, Mir Gulam Rasool Batvani chairman of the Forum said that Central Government and other UT as well as State Governments have released the four percent DA installment to its employees and senior citizens since while the J&K Government has delayed the announcement.
He made an appeal to Lt Governor, Manoj Sinha seeking his immediate attention towards the issue and said since the prices are skyrocketing day by day it is difficult for the pensioners to pull on the meager amount of pension.
Addressing the meeting State secretary of the Forum, D N Sadhu demanded hike in Medical Allowance from Rs 300 to Rs 3000 per month for pensioners who in old age are mostly dependent on medicines. He also demanded that the other demands of pensioners and senior citizens be conceded without further delay. Besides, the new pension cases be settled and pension and gratuity of the newly retired employees be released without delay.
