Pensioners, senior citizens hold meet, list demands

JAMMU, Mar 27: A meeting of Pensioners & Senior Citizens Welfare Society, J&K was held under the chairmanship of its president, Mir Gh Rasool Botvani in which problems being faced by pensioners were discussed.
The meeting said pensioners are facing multiple problems including health issues and financial constrains. It appealed to the Government for early redressal of all grievances.
The meeting demanded enhancement of monthly pension to the pensioners of J&K 20 per cent from the age of 65 years, 30 per cent from the age of 70 years , 40 percent from the age of 75 years 50 percent from the age of 80 years, 70 percent from the age of 85 years, 90 percent from the age of 90 years and hundred percent from the age of 100 years.
It also demanded release of with held DA arrears from January 2020 to July 2021, hike of monthly Medical Allowance from Rs 300 to Rs 1000 per month from April 2020, implementation of Old Pension Scheme( OPS) instead of New Pension Scheme (NPS) , stoppage of commutation recovery to all pensioners after 10 years, timely release of pensionary benefits/ Gratuity / commutation / G P Fund by the respective treasuries without any delay and regularization of daily wagers with pension benefits.
It also demanded issuance of senior citizens cards to all senior citizens after the age of 60 years.
