Pensioners, senior citizens list demands

JAMMU, Oct 8: A meeting of State Pensioners and Senior Citizens Welfare Society held today at Mansbal Safapora in Ganderbal district and discussed their demands.
It demanded payment of Rs 1000 as Medical Allowance at par with the Central Government employees, release of Dearness Allowance pending with the Government, senior citizens be given rights as are applicable in other States, control on the price hike, facilities on Golden Card announced by the Government needs to be provided in every hospital of the country, old age home be constructed in every district of the UT of J&K and completion of work on bridge at Shilwat Sumbal on river Jehlum connecting Ganderbal.
In the meeting it was also demanded that an University should be established at Tulmula, Kheerbhvani in Ganderbal district, besides 90 MW power House at Ganderbal should also be constructed.
The meeting termed the killing of M L Bindroo a big loss and unfortunate in view of the fact that he had contributed a lot to the people of Kashmir province through his services. It said people can’t forget his services. The meeting said it is the duty of the majority community to give full protection to minorities and treat them like their own brothers.
The meeting was attended by Sheikh Gh Mohiuddin, general secretary, Noor Mohd Sheikh, district president, Ganderbal, Habibullah Inqlabi, distric president, Bandipora, Ali Mohammad Mundoo president, Srinagar, Mukhtar Ahmad Bazaz, Chief organiser, Ghulam Mohiuddin Malla, president Sumbal Sonawari and others. Those who participated through virtual mode included P. N. Raina, Roshan Lal Kulgami, Comrade Baldev Raj, D N Sadhu State secretary of Pensioners and Senior Citizens Welfare Society UT of J&K .
Mir Gh Rasool Botvani president of the organization appealed to senior citizens and pensioner’s to fight for eradication of COVID-19 unitedly and to help poor people at this stage. He said we have contributed a lot towards our nation & yet at this we are always ready to work for the betterment of deserving people of the country.
