KATHUA, Feb 9: The irate people of Kulidhar 40 kms from Basohli on Bani road today staged a protest and also blocked the Bani-Basohli road for three hours in protest against the power crisis in the area.
The villagers are facing total blackout for last 15 days after the local transformer developed a snag.
The protestors said that despite several requests to the concerned agencies the transformer was not replaced. The authorities only gave us assurances but did noting except that forcing the people to come to streets and black the road, said one of the villagers.
However the road blockade was lifted by the people on the assurance of Tehsildar Basohli who along with other officers visited the spot and assured them that the transformer will be installed by to night and power will be restored by tomorrow morning.
On this assurance the people dispersed peacefully.
