KATHUA, Jan 16: To give vent to their simmering anger against the power crisis in the area the irate residents and members of business community of Hatli More, today took to the streets against the State Power Development Department (PDD), near CTM, Industrial area, at Jammu-Pathankot National Highway and blocked it for two hours.
The protest was taken out against power failure in the area from past three days. The protestors who blocked the National Highway for two hours shouted slogans against the PDD authorities for their negligent attitude.
They alleged that the power transformer of the area broke-down and for last three days, they are completely without power supply, which has affected the business as well as studies of the children.
The protestors warned to continue agitation in case the problem was not settled immediately.
Later, the protesters were pacified by local police, who later called subordinate officers of PDD, who promised them to restore the power supply by replacing another transformer of the same capacity at the earliest.
After getting assurance, the protesters defused off peacefully.
