KATHUA, June 2: The irate people of Barnoti and adjoining areas blocked National Highway at Barnoti for over one hour, today in protest against the water scarcity.
The protesters raising slogans against the PHE Department alleged that they were facing acute water scarcity for last three days and the Departmental authorities failed to solve the problem despite approached number of times.
The protesters squatted on highway and blocked the movement of vehicular traffic for over one hour. There was a huge jam on NH and passengers were put to a lot of trouble.
Later a police team from Police Station Kathua rushed to the spot and assured the protestors that the issue will be taken up with concerned department by them and solved soon.
