SAMBA, May 8: The irate residents of Kali Mandi Samba held blocked Jammu Pathankot National Highway for one hour this afternoon in protest against the encroachment of the land belonging to one Prem Lal of the village in Sapwal.
The irate residents who held a demonstration in Samba Chowk did not allow any vehicle to pass and demanded immediate restoration of land to its owner and action against the land grabbers by the police.
The protestors said that Prem Lal was having some land in Sapwal Samba and during last night some goons encroached it.
Terming it lawlessness the protestors demanded that authorities should bring such people to book who create law and order problem for the government. Later SHO, Samba, Sanjeev Chib visited the spot and pacified the protestors. He informed them that the police team has been sent to the area and law will take its own course.
SHO Samba Sanjeev Chib said that one person was arrested in this connection and FIR registered against him under relevant sections of the law. He said the arrested person claims that the land belongs to him and it will be only ascertained after checking the revenue records tomorrow, he added.
