KATHUA, May 31: The irate residents of Ramkote held a protest demonstration and blocked Dhar road for three hours in protest against the failure of Government in posting the doctors and para medical staff in PHC Ramkote due to which people are facing many hardships.
The protestors in hundreds squatted on the Dhar road and disrupted the movement of vehicular traffic for three hours. They were raising slogans against the authorities of Health Department for their callous attitude towards the people of the area.
They said that people of Ramkote and many adjoining villages are dependent for treatment on PHC Ramkote and they were put to many hardships due failure of Government in posting the doctors and para medical staff in the Hospital.
The protestors alleged that the doctors whenever are posted in the hospital mange their adjustment within week’s time in the cities and towns with the result people are made to suffer.
They demanded a check on the practice and sought an assurance from the authorities that the doctors and paramedical staff will not transferred frequently from there in future. They warned to intensify agitation in case the demand was not conceded immediately.
Later SDM Billawar, Rajesh Basotra and CMO Kathua visited the area and appealed the people to lift the road blockade as they will take up the issue with higher authorities and find an immediate solution to their problem.
Later both the officers also talked to Director Health Services Jammu and he assured them that the doctor and paramedical staff will be posed in the PHC within days. On this assurance the people lifted the road blockade.
