SUNDERBANI, July 29: A large number of people from several villages of Panchayat Lower Bhajwal blocked Sunderbani- Kangri road and held strong protest demonstration against Power Development Department (PDD) and Public Health Engineering (Now Jal Shakti), Sunderbani for low voltage, power cuts and severe drinking water crisis during these hot summer days.
A large number of people from these villages assembled at village Kalideh, Besia and Ainpur today morning and blocked the Ghai Chowk in protest for their demand of sanctioning 100 KV transformer to the people of ward number 07 Panchayat Lower Bhajwal- B near Model Academy, Kalideh. They launched strong protest demonstration against authorities of both the departments. They were shouting slogans against the District Administration and PHE and PDD authorities. This protest was under the chairmanship of Block Development Council (BDC) chairman Sunderbani, Arun Kumar Sharma.
Sarpanch Lok Nath Sudan and Sarpanch Mohan Singh, were leading the protest. The people were shouting slogans against both the departments. They said Bhajwal village is facing severe water crisis and also suffering due to low voltage and electricity curtailment. The PHE authorities have failed to provide even tanker supply. The general public is purchasing water through private tankers by paying huge money.
The District Administration and PHE & PDD authorities at Rajouri have totally failed to provide this essential service to thousands of people of this entire belt, they alleged.
Later, Tehsildar Sunderbani Jatinder Singh, SHO Sanjeev Slathia rushed to the spot and called the officers of PDD. Then they talked to AEE PDD Sunderbani Rajiv Koul who promised protesters 100 KV transformer within one week. The people then suspended perotest.
