UDHAMPUR, Mar 28: Continuing their protest for the fourth consecutive day, against opening of wine shop near Manthal National Highway in Tikri, locals held a strong protest demonstration today.
A large number of men and women assembled on the road and staged a dharna amidst raising of slogans against opening of wine shop in Manthal. Demanding immediate closure of the wine shop, they vowed to continue the protest till their demand is conceded by the authorities.
The protesting people claimed that opening of wine shop would invite a negative impact on the young generation and spoil the healthy atmosphere of the society. “The problems that are going to surface after opening of the wine shop in their area, were brought into the notice of concerned officers but nothing has been done to shift the shop from the locality thus forcing us to come on roads,” they said.
The agitating villagers appealed the Governor’s administration to take cognizance of their grievance and order immediate closure of the wine shop for protecting future of the young generation.
