JAMMU, Dec 2: Former Minister and senior Congress leader, Sham Lal Sharma has alleged that previous Government in the State failed to provide basic amenities to the people of the State.
Addressing a party function at Gandharwan in Akhnoor block which was also attended by newly elected Sarpanches and Panches of the area, Sham Lal said that Congress was emerging stronger as more people are joining party cadre. He hoped that new faces would come up to the expectations of the people and carry the agenda of development to the gross root level. He further said that people are getting influenced by the policies of the Congress and are joining the party fold in big number.
Sharma said that during the regime of erstwhile Govt no developmental work was carried out and the developmental works under process during the Congress Government were put on hold.
Sham Lal said that the people were deprived of basic amenities like issue of ration, drinking water, electricity etc and the people were feeling cheated after voting in favour of BJP. He said that people wanted change and end to their long pending development related issues due to an easy access to their elected representatives. He exhorted upon the elected Sarpanch and Panches associated to his party to work hard for the development of their respective areas and make themselves easily available to the people and discuss the developmental and basic amenities issue with them for speedy and well planned works.
He lambasted the erstwhile BJP led Govt for its lackadaisical attitude towards the basic problems of the people particularly in Akhnoor tehsil. During their regime, the discrimination with Jammu region crossed all the limits whether it may be recruitment or disbursement of funds. He said though BJP is making tall claims of development but the Akhnoor area has been neglected all together so far as development in tehsil Akhnoor is concerned.
Sharma said the BJP got massive mandate in Jammu region by making false promises with the people. The people now are feeling cheated as none of the promises they made were fulfilled. There is resentment among the people and they will teach BJP a lesson in coming Assembly elections.
