Srinagar, May 4: As the COVID-19 cases increase along with the patients who need oxygen therapy while at home, the people are facing an acute shortage of medical oxygen across Kashmir.
People from various areas of Srinagar told Excelsior that they are facing an acute shortage of oxygen for their patients who are in home isolation and find it near to impossible to secure an oxygen cylinder for their patients.
“My mother needed oxygen last night and I accordingly called few outlets that sell the oxygen, but this time, they categorically said that they cannot provide it as they do not have a supply,” a woman whose mother was gasping for oxygen last night.
The dealers that used to get the supply from the oxygen plants established in various industrial areas of the city also said that they are facing the heat of the situation and are not able to help those in need.
“We used to supply the oxygen cylinders to people who needed it at home, but since yesterday, we have facing a difficult situation as we are not getting the required supplies; I am telling you, at this point of time, if a patients’ oxygen level drops and needs oxygen, I am telling you that the patient is going to die, as there is no oxygen available to supply,” said Qaiser Ahmad, who supplies oxygen cylinder for domestic in city outskirts.
As per reports, the people have been asked to get their cylinders filled at the industrial estate, Khonmoh or Sanatnagar during the day and for the night people used to rely on the suppliers. “Even during the day, it is impossible to get the oxygen cylinder at Khonmoh or Sanatnagar,” he said.
