SRINAGAR, Aug 25: Speaker, Legislative Assembly Mohammad Akbar Lone and Minister for CA&PD Qamar Ali Akhoon today visited Sumbal Sonawari Constituency and took stock of the pace of work on Government Degree College, Sumbal coming up at the cost of Rs.17 crore.
They were informed that construction work of the college will be completed by July, 2013.
The Speaker directed the executing agencies to complete 6 rooms within a month so that the students of the constituency will not face any hardship during their examinations. He also directed them to raise boundary wall of the college for maintaining privacy. Mr. Lone directed the JKPCC authorities to construct girls, boys and staff canteens besides Chowkidar hut also.
They directed the executing agencies to speed up the pace of work on the college building and complete it within a stipulated time frame.. These leaders also stressed for using the quality material.
Later, the Speaker addressed a large public gathering at village Inderkote in Sonawari constituency and appealed the people especially youth to come forward and cooperate for carrying forward the development process successfully adding that the people are the fountain head of power.
Referring to the developmental works under execution in the Constituency, Mr. Lone said that several projects were under execution in the constituency to improve the socio-economic profile and life style of the people. He said on completion of these projects and developmental works not only better facilities would be extended to the people but employment opportunities would be generated for education unemployed youth.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister for CA&PD said that Government under the leadership of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has taken numerous reformative and bold initiatives for revitalization of all round development of the State, with special focus for socio-economic upliftment of weaker sections of the society.
Counting achievement registered by the Government in Sonawari Constituency, Mr. Akhoon said several major and minor projects have been taken in hand to improve the living standard of the people.
