LUCKNOW, Jan 15: Listing the reasons for Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) not coming to power, party supremo Mayawati said on Wednesday that at the time of elections, people forget the welfare works of BSP and get swayed by the tempting and false promises of those parties whose words and actions do not match.
While talking to journalists on the occasion of her 69th birthday, Mayawati said her party, which has been in power four times in Uttar Pradesh, not only started public welfare schemes, but also implemented them honestly. She said because of these steps, the condition of the poor, Dalits, tribals, backward classes, Muslims and other minorities has improved a lot and now the state governments of other parties in the country are also copying those schemes.
She alleged, “But due to policy and intentions of these parties not being clear towards the people, these governments are not able to give them any special benefits.”
She said, “On this occasion, understanding and fulfilling my responsibility and duty, in the interest of my party and movement, I want to warn the party people, as always, this time also as a precaution that for the last few years, Congress, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Samajwadi Party (SP) and other casteist parties are using all kinds of tactics to weaken and break the vote of BSP, especially the Dalits, from which they must be cautious at every step.”
The BSP supremo said that if the Congress leaders show the Constitution and do all kinds of drama by wearing blue clothes then what else is it if not a deception and hypocrisy with the Dalits and other neglected sections.
“Due to the consciousness that has come for the struggle for power, now there is a lot of competition among all these opposition parties to become their faces, specially in grabbing the votes of Dalits and tribals,” she said.
She said the manner in which all the great saints, gurus and great men of Bahujan Samaj including Baba Saheb Ambedkar have been neglected and disrespected at every level in the Congress governments under casteist thinking and hatred, and their followers neglected at every level is not hidden from anyone and neither can the people of Dalit and other neglected classes ever forget it.
She said, “BJP and its governments are also not behind, rather the way the senior minister of this party has insulted Baba Saheb in the Parliament and he has not repented for it till now, the anger and resentment towards this party in these classes is never going to reduce, no matter how many campaigns this party keeps running for their votes.”
Mayawati claimed that Dalits, tribals and other backward classes in the country are not getting the full benefit of reservation, especially in government jobs.
“Now this facility of theirs has become almost negligible. People of Muslim and other religious minority communities are also feeling very insecure, due to which their development is also hindered. Due to wrong economic policies of the central and state governments, poverty, unemployment and inflation are increasing day by day in the country,” she said. (UNI)
