Srinagar, Dec 2: BJP leader and party’s J&K Affairs In-charge Vibodh Gupta today said that the people of Kashmir have rejected militancy and separatism by showing participation in the DDC elections.
Gupta, while talking to the reporters in north Kashmir’s Sopore during a “Tonga rally” said that the violence, militancy and separatism have cast shadows on the development of the famous Apple town. The rally was held first time in Sopore during last three decades.
He said the area has witnessed a bloodbath in the last three decades, creating impediments in the overall development and prosperity of the people of the town. “The militancy and separatism had blocked all ways of development in world-famous Apple town Sopore,” he said.
Gupta said that massive participation of people into two phases of on-going DDC elections was indicative of the fact that the people of Kashmir rejected militancy and separatism.
“The entire Kashmir has changed. There is no room for militancy and separatism. People want to live a peaceful life,” he said.
He assured the people that if the BJP comes to the power after the DDC elections, the party will set up an International Fruit Mandi in the town. “Sopore is known as mini-London but was ignored by successive regimes in Jammu and Kashmir; we will work towards its betterment,” he said.
He said that the aim of organizing the Tonga Rally was to invite the attention of local people and communicate to them the “pro-people message of BJP.”
Gupta expressed happiness over the participation of locals in the rally and said that it was a “clear message that people of Sopore have reposed their faith on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s agenda of development.”
