BHADERWAH, May 1: The residents of different areas of Chiralla held protest against PMGSY and PWD near Poneja.
Carrying pla-cards and raising slogans, the residents burnt the effigies of the PMGSY and PWD officials.
The residents stated that they are facing manifold problems due to lack of basic amenities including shortage of ration, lack of medical facilities and poor road connectivity.
They said that PMGSY and PWD have failed to repair about 25 kilometers of road from Suiguari to Suawa.
“We are facing manifold problems due to dilapidated condition of Chiralla road. The road is in worst condition since long and has developed potholes”, said Swami Raj Bhagat, Sarpanch, Panchayat Poneja.
The foundation stone of Chiralla road was laid down by former CM of Jammu and Kashmir Dr Farooq Abdullah at Suiguari on October 16 1982, but unfortunately it has not been macadamized since then, he said, adding that the issue was taken up with the MLA and administration but no action has been taken so far.
The residents also blocked the Chiralla road for couple of hours and threatened to launch agitation, if their demand of construction of the road is not fulfilled at the earliest.
Among others present were Mahinder Singh Kotwal, Rakesh Kotwal, Manjeet Singh, Dan Singh Masha, Amar Nath Kotwal, Bhushan Kotwal, Bhushan Ramotra, etc.
