SRINAGAR, Nov 18: The people of tehsil Wakura are facing severe power crisis with the burning down of transformer at Receiving Station Kurhama Ganderbal over 10 days back.
According to residents of the area the people of entire tehsil face long duration power cuts upto 18 hours a day as power is supplied on rotation basis for two hours in morning two hours during afternoon and two hours during night.
The residents said that this has added to their problems and despite the cold winter the Government is not taking any steps to restore the transformer of the Receiving Station to relieve the people of their hardships.
There is hue and cry in entire tehsil, said Mir Ghulam Rasool president Peoples Republican Party (PRP) and he warned that people will come to streets and protest in case the power supply was not restored immediately.
He said the issue was taken up with the higher authorities of the Department but they failed to restore the transformer till date.
Mir has sought immediate intervention of Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh who is also holding the charge of Power Ministry in the matter.
