People of J & K are more than keen for development and good governance: PM

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said people of Jammu and Kashmir are more than keen to join the development mainstream and the people of the militancy hit state are also in favour of ‘good governance’.
“Kashmir ke hamare bhai behen, good governance chahtey haen (The brothers and sisters of Jammu and Kashmir want good governance),” Prime Minister said in his monthly radio broadcast Mann-Ki-Baat through All India Radio.
He said people of the state are more than keen to join the development mainstream.
Prime Minister also said the power of development and progress is always more stronger than the power of bombs and guns.
Mr Modi made the remarks in reference to a missive from Shopian-based Bhai Mohammad Aslam, who had said that he likes to listen to Mann-Ki-Baat programme and he also mentioned at length about the ‘community mobilisation’ programme ‘Back to Village’ launched in the state.
“Under this programme in the state, top officials for the first time reached the villages,” Prime Minister said. Mr Modi also said that the calendar year 2019 has been a good one for Indian space and science and maintained that the successful launch of Chandrayan-2 mission gave two basic lessons – one of faith and the other of fearlessness.
Prime Minister lauded the innovative zeal of Indian scientists.
In this context, Mr Modi said even at personal life when we have setbacks, the answer to the problems can found within oneself only – if one had faith and fearlessness.
He also complimented Meghalaya government for evolving its own water policy – first time by any state in the country.
