KHOUR, July 8: The Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) working president Raman Bhalla today attributed the delay in the conduct of the Assembly polls to the BJP’s “rapidly falling graph among people”.
“When they (BJP) can hold Urban and Local Bodies polls then what is restraining them from holding Assembly elections,” he asked, adding “they know they cannot form Government on their own.”
Addressing a public meeting in Khour Constituency organized by Congress leader Satish Sharma, Bhalla said BJP was perhaps not feeling “politically comfortable” as its “much- hyped pitch about generation of large-scale employment after its historical blunders in J&K did not happen on the ground”. BJP’s problems in J&K have increased in the wake of the demolition drive, imposition of property tax, increasing unemployment and non-regularisation of daily wagers, he said.
Besides, bureaucrats from outside J&K have been given “plum postings”, which has caused resentment among local officials, he said, adding there was a “disconnect between the administration and common public”.
Bhalla said that people of J&K will teach BJP a lesson like recent elections in Karnataka, as the ruling party committed great atrocities upon the common people and all sections of society are great sufferers due to the policies of BJP Government. He said that BJP has let loose a reign of terror through heavy taxes and other anti-poor, anti-farmers, anti-youth and anti-trade policies besides looting the local resources after the arbitrary disbanding and downgrading of historic Dogra State of J&K and offering jobs to outsiders at the cost of large scale unemployment in J&K. He said that BJP is looting the people and skinning the common man through tax terrorism.
He said unemployment is at highest peak especially in J&K, economy is at the lowest ebb and each and every section of the society is suffering due to wrong polices of BJP and Modi Government people of Jammu have got only toll plazas, privatization of power and offering of local resources and jobs to outsiders, he added. He asked the people to teach BJP a lesson for their politics of deceit and hate.
Satish Sharma raised serious concern over the extremely volatile situation in J&K describing it as fallout of wrong policies adopted by both the J&K Government and the Centre. He said the situation has turned from bad to worse due to the anti-people policies adopted by the Government. The unemployment is at its peak, inflation has gone out of control amid the sky rocketing prices of essential commodities while the claims of unprecedented development stand exposed with the snail’s pace of almost all the works.
BDC president Praveen Kumar, Prem Singh, Prabhu Singh, Block president Prem Singh, Om Prakash, Des Raj Bhagat, Mohan Lal Bhagat and others also spoke on the occasion.
