RAJOURI, Sept 21: The people staged protest demonstration and also disrupted movement of traffic on the road after tyres of five vehicles were stolen in town here last night.
Reports said this incident took place in Ward No. 8 of Rajouri town during last night. During over night operation, some thieves took away tyres of five vehicles (cars) parked on the road side near Slaughter House. The people came to know about the theft in the morning.
After coming to know about the incident, a large number of vehicles came out on the road near Slaughter House and held protest demonstration against police. They pointed out that for the first time such an incident has taken place in the town. They said majority of the vehicles of the people remain parked on the city roads and lanes during night and this theft has posed security threat to all.
They shouted slogans against Rajouri police and demanded night patrolling in the town and arrest of the thieves. The movement of traffic remained disrupted on the road for about 45 minutes. Later, SHO reached the spot and assured the agitating people to work out the theft case and arrest the accused persons.
