People protest against CAPD, block road

MENDHAR, July 6: The people from Balakote area today held protest demonstration against CAPD authorities and blocked Mendhar-Jammu road at Dhar Galoon for over three hours.
The people from several adjoining villages and hamlets came out on the road and raised barricades at around 9 am. They stalled the movement of traffic up to 12 noon and raised loud slogans against TSO Mendhar, AD CAPD Poonch, Director CAPD Jammu and the Minister for CAPD Ch Zulfkar Ali.
The people demanded that flood/ rain relief ration has not been disbursed by the CAPD department in Balakote area while Administration claims that ration stand disbursed. They alleged that people are still high and dry and no such supply has been provided by the CAPD officials. Not even this, the routine ration is also not being provided to the consumers. The people are suffering badly for want of ration.
The agitating villagers alleged that some vehicles said to have arrived at local CAPD store. It was alleged that many ration bags said to have been damaged in store and Atta has turned black in colour. They demanded a probe into the matter and action against the erring officials.
Later, SDPO Mendhar Shahid Nahim and SHO Gursai P P Singh reached the spot. They assured the public to take up the matter with the Assistant Director CAPD Poonch and the director concerned and also hold an investigation into the matter. The people then lifted dharna and allowed movement of vehicles.
