JAMMU, June 12 : Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) activists led by Kuldeep Banotra –Mandal president Akhnoor held a protest demonstration on Jourian road demanding probe in the non completion of work on Akhnoor-Jourian road which is under construction for the last 3 years.
They squatted on the road disrupting the movement of vehicular traffic. However the protestors dispersed after the Tehsildar, Akhnoor S.D.P.O and SHO reached the spot and assured that their demand will be brought in the notice of concerned authorities.
Addressing protestors Vibodh Gupta- state vice president and in charge Akhnoor district said that Crores of rupees have been withdrawn to get the road from Akhnoor to Jourian constructed but for the last 3 years the situation has turned more grim and people are suffering a lot due to bad condition of the road.
He said that it is surprising that there are two Congress ministers and a Member Parliament from the area but all have failed to deliver and get this 18 kilometer road constructed. He said that if these leaders and ministers could not construct a road for people they have no right to demand votes and people must teach them a lesson in the coming Parliamentary and Assembly elections.
He said that the road is being used by thousands of people daily and is linked with a Highway but it is strange that only bills are being withdrawn and no work is being executed to get it finished.
Terming the road as biggest problem, senior BJP leader Chaman Lal Kanathia and Daljit Singh said that they are continuously demanding the construction of the road but there is no heed from the Government. They said that the State Government has maintained stoic silence over the issues.
