RAJOURI, Mar 19: The people from two villages of Thannamandi today held protest demonstration against Power Development Department (PDD) and blocked the road.
Reports said that a large number of people from Hasprot, Dhakkian villages and ward No. 11, 12 , 13 of Thannamandi held protest against the PDD authorities and sat on dharna on main Rajouri-Thannamandi road. The people alleged that transformers of these villages got damaged about month back but the PDD authorities failed to restore power supply by replacing them. The people are facing lot of hardships due to it.
They also pointed out that fatty electric bills are being delivered to the consumers on flat rates by PDD staff while power supply is irregular and not being provided at all. They said that no bills with be entertained as PDD has failed to provide power supply. A large number of vehicles remained stranded on the road for over one and half hour due to blockade. Later, SDM and Teshildar Thannamandi reached the spot and pacified the public after talking to Executive Engineer PDD on phone. They gave three day time to the people for restoration of power supply. The people then lifted dharna.
