POONCH, Apr 7: The people from Poonch city held strong protest demonstration against scarcity of water and power crisis and blocked Poonch -Rawalakot road for about two hours on the out skirts here today.
A large number of people came out on the road at round 8 am today and raised barricades on Chakkan-da-Bagh road. They staged dharna on the road against PDD and PHE authorities and shouted slogans against the officers concerned. They alleged that PDD has failed to provide adequate supply of power whereas water supply has been badly hit in the town. They alleged that tankers are unable to provide the adequate water and the public was suffering.
Later, SHO Poonch and Executive Engineer PHE reached the spot and pacified the agitating public. After long discussion and assurance by these officers, the residents lifted dharna at around 10 am. Many vehicles remained stranded on the road.
