RAJOURI, July 16: Death of a woman at GMC Hospital Rajouri allegedly because of doctor’s negligence led to strong protest by family members and relatives of the deceased, who demanded action against the erring medico.
Meanwhile, an enquiry team has been constituted that will submit the report within 24 hours and action as warranted under rule shall be initiated if someone is found guilty, said Principal GMC Rajouri Dr Brij Mohan.
Naseem Begum (42), wife of Munshi Khan, resident of Azmatabad, Thanna Mandi, died at GMC Hospital Rajouri this morning soon after she was brought to the hospital in a serious condition by the family members.
However, the protesting family members and relatives of alleged that the woman died because of doctor’s negligence, who did not attend her. Shouting slogans and demanding registration of FIR against the erring doctor, the protesting family members came on Rajouri- Thanna Mandi road and staged a dharna. They put body of the deceased on road and protested against the GMC staff for their sheer negligence.
Later the administration pacified the protesters by assuring that action would be taken against erring medicos. Meanwhile, senior Congress leader and DDC Member Thanna Mandi, Abdul Qayoom Mir has demanded a transparent and fair enquiry so as to ascertain facts that led to death of the woman. He also appealed the LG administration to equip the hospitals of Thanna Mandi Tehsil with staff and latest machineries so that the poor public may not have to travel several kilometers for medical treatment.
