POONCH, July 11: Relatives of the deceased and people of the area held protest after a patient died in Surankote hospital due to alleged negligence of hospital staff.
Report said a patient namely Nelofar Khan, lost her life due to non-availability of concerned doctors /staff on duty at Sub District Hospital, Surankote last night.
Locals held protest and alleged that no specialist doctor and staff was available due to which patient lost her life. The protest was led by Mohd Haroon. He said that SDH Surankote covers huge area but no specialist doctor was there.
Senior citizens lashed at the Sub District Hospital Surankote Administration for negligent behaviour which resulted in death of one person. They said that for past several months functioning of Sub District Hospital Surankote has come to the worst ever level which should be cause of great concern.
Sarpanch Haleem Khan and Tahir Manzoor Mirza told that no doctor was available when they reached and patient died due to negligence of staff. They were demanding Judicial inquiry into the incident.
Later, SHO Surankote Niaz Ahmed rushed to the hospital to pacify the protesters. DDC members Sohil Malik and Shanawaz Choudhay and several senior citizen reached on the spot and demanded fair enquiry.
Later, DC Poonch Inderjeet, SSP Poonch, Rohit Baskotra and CMO Poonch reached the spot and met with the family member of the victim and other public representatives and assured strict action in this regard.
