MENDHAR, Mar 23: The people from Balakote area held protest and also blocked road for several hours after a Sarpanch of the area was allegedly beaten up by some Army jawans and a JCO in the same area.
Reports said Sarpanch Nazir Ahmed Choudhary from Deri Langiot Ghoi, was intercepted by Army team of 49 RR for frisking. On some issue there was some tiff and the JCO and four jawans allegedly roughed up the Sarpanch.
Later, the people of the area came to know about the matter and they resorted to protest. The people blocked road and held protest demonstration against CO of the Unit and Army.
Later, the Sector Commander and Naib Tehsildar Mendhar reached the spot. They talked to the agitating public and assured action in this regard.
